Our Preschool program follows a curriculum based on fun and creative ways to develop skills through interactive play, arts and crafts and exciting activities. You can expect a warm and caring environment, weekly newsletters, a weekly music class, gym classes, swimming lessons and nutritious snacks and lunch.

This program is geared for children in
Readiness Kindergarten as well as Kindergarten. It runs Monday-Friday.
A morning and afternoon session is offered daily. Bussing is available to and from Kinder Kidz within the Escanaba School District.
Daily activities will include: learning circle, crafts, play time, gym classes, swim lessons available for afternoon students, music class, lunch for morning students and snacks for afternoon students.

The YMCA takes a community-wide approach to meeting the needs of working parents and their children. As a community partner with schools and families, the YMCA ensures that a quality program is provided to all children. This program offers the children an opportunity to participate in age appropriate activities. We offer a nutritious snack, homework time and outdoor play. Tutoring is also available at an additional cost.

Gym and Swim
Your YMCA preschool program now offers
exclusive swim lessons and gym classes as part of our improved curriculum.
On each Monday and Wednesday afternoon your child may participate in YMCA Preschool Swim lessons. On Tuesday and Thursday morning your child will participate the free “YMCA Wee Be Fit” program. Both activities will develop skills for a lifetime. In the gym, development of fine and large motor skills, as well as activities that will stimulate hand-eye / foot-eye coordination, balance, concentration, and teamwork will be taught. In the pool, children develop safe pool practices, adjust to the water and learn basic swimming movements. Swim lessons will help your child build confidence and motor skills. Parent Tot Play Group
This program has been a great opportunity for parents to interact with other parents while their children are playing and having a great time with other children. The program is structured for parents and tots 4 years old and under. The activities are coordinated by parent volunteers who take the time to plan each week’s group activity. Each month there will be a schedule available at the front desk listing the events taking place for the current month.

Tot Watch
Parents will be able to bring their child(ren) to tot watch and attend classes, swim or workout. Space in the morning is based on availability and will required licensing paperwork to be filled out. The morning tot watch ages are 2 1/2-6. The evening tot watch doesn’t require licensing paperwork and the ages are from 1-9.

Schools Out Fun Days
Looking for something for your kids to do when there is no school? Throughout the school year, the YMCA will be hosting a variety of “Schools out Fun Days.” This is a fun-filled day for your child that will run 9 am-4:30 pm. Kids aged 5-12 will enjoy a day of group activities, swimming, arts and crafts, wall climbing and games. Please remember to bring a bag lunch, gym shoes, swimsuit, and a towel. Space is limited.
